Determining the characteristics of amino acid sequences of enhancin protein in baculoviruses

Among all the families of known entomopathogenic viruses, the most studied viruses have been related to the Baculoviridae family. One of the proteins of baculoviruses is called enhancin, that causes the breakdown of the proteins in the peritrophic membrane of insects called mucin and increases the permeability of baculoviruses. Based on the results of preparing the phylogenetic tree of 67 amino acid sequences of enhancin enzyme, nine sequences were selected. The physicochemical parameters of these sequences were studied by the ProtParam Expasy server, and features such as stability, isoelectric point, Grand Average of Hydropathy (Gravy), the presence of aliphatic chains, and light absorption coefficient were studied. In this research, the instability index of the selected proteins was less than 40 that was a predictor of protein stability. An isoelectric point greater than seven proves the alkaline nature of the protein. In this study, the isoelectric point of selected proteins was less than seven. The minimum and maximum GRAVY were seen in HaGV amino acid sequences. The aliphatic index is related to the thermal stability of the protein. The range of aliphatic index for selected proteins was 82.67 to 100.77. The light absorption coefficient shows how much light a protein absorbs at a given wavelength and it is useful for the purification time to estimate this coefficient for following the protein by spectrophotometer. As researchers are working on tools to use baculovirus enhancin genes to increase the efficiency of pest control operations, this information can help select the most effective gene.
