چکیده مقاله:
Citrus fruits are rich source of antioxidant compounds, vitamins and carotenoids. Sour rot disease caused by Geotrichum citri-aurantii has been reported all over the world that leads to a major loss of the production during harvest, storage and exportation. Post-harvest chemical treatments are usually used to protect fruits and vegetables during transportation, storage and marketing. Considering the hazardous chemical substances can cause serious harm to the environment and human health, nowadays the use of organic substances is considered as a safe alternative for controlling of post-harvest diseases. In this study, two organic products, Hifresh and Natamycin + Eugenol, were used to control the Geotrichum citri-aurantii fungus. In this way, the fruits were inoculated with the pathogen followed dipping by a coating method for 1 min. Also, the effect of these products on the fungus was evaluated on the culture medium, PDA. The results showed that the natamycin + eugenol at a concentration of 0.5% was able to completely control the sour rot on the both orange fruit and culture medium (100%) while the Hifresh 10% showed a 95%-inhibition on the culture medium despite the complete control of the fungus on the fruits
