چکیده مقاله:
The biological inputs (Bi) market has expanded in Iran in terms of product variety and the number of production units in recent years. This study investigated the limitations and challenges in distributing and consuming these inputs. Interviews were conducted with 121 agricultural inputs beneficiaries, including distributors, sales agents, plant health clinics, and leading farmers in different provinces of Iran. The results showed that the focus of the consumption of Bi is more on greenhouse crops, export products and the treatment of grain and bean seeds, processing of manure and decreasing soil pH. A manufacturer whose product portfolio is widely distributed in different provinces of the country was not found. The customers of each region are primarily familiar with the companies' products in the same area. Expiration date limitation, low-profit margin and the need for refrigeration equipment to store Bi were among the reasons for not welcoming distributors and sellers. The farmer's attention to quantity instead of quality, an expectation of the rapid effectiveness of Bi, the lack of sufficient knowledge of the beneficiaries, no price difference between healthy agricultural products and other products in the market, the increase in costs related to the need to apply several times of Bi, the lack of a diverse portfolio of inputs to control common pests and diseases and the abundance of access to chemical inputs were the reasons for the limitations of farmers' acceptance. The results can be a ground for planning the development of the market of biological inputs in Iran.
