چکیده مقاله:
An endophytic bacterial strain, isolated from Fragaria × ananassa peduncle, and its antifungal properties against Colletotrichum nymphaeae was evaluated under in vitro, in vivo, and greenhouse tests. Bacterial strain was identified as Bacillus spp. strain ABN14 using phenotypic, biochemical and molecular phylogenetic analysis. Bacterial strain ABN14 decreased mycelial growth of C. nymphaeae (51.64%) using dual-culture method. The non-volatile compounds produced by ABN14 suppressed mycelial growth and conidial germination of C. nymphaeae by 100% and 79.45%, respectively. On the other hand, inhibition percentage of mycelial growth of the pathogen by volatile compounds of the strain ABN14 was 7.92%. The living cells of the strain ABN14 decreased anthracnose disease on fruit by 90.78%. Also, disease severity of strawberry anthracnose was decreased using soil drenching and spraying on aerial parts usage methods by 72.22% and 83.33%, respectively. According to this research, this bacterium significantly suppresses the growth of the fungal pathogen. This bacterium uses multiple mechanisms including, competition for food and space, occupation of ecological niche, secretion of wall-decomposing enzymes, production of siderophore and antifungal metabolites.
