چکیده مقاله:
The pathogen Pythium aphanidermatum poses a significant threat to various crops and causes severe damages. This plant disease can infect a wide variety of crops, including soybeans, peppers, tomatoes, dahlias, and beets, which can affect their economic value. P.aphanidermatum is classified as an oomycete, meaning it is not a true fungus. Unlike true fungi, its cell walls are made of cellulose instead of chitin, but it behaves like a fungus. After infection, P.aphanidermatum leads to various destructive symptoms in plants, including stem rot, root rot, and wilting seedlings. Plants infected with P.aphanidermatum may experience growth cessation, yellowing of leaves, wilting, and eventual death. Several management methods are effective in controlling this pathogen, including the use of chemical fungicides. However, biological control is considered a more effective alternative to chemical pesticides due to the positive environmental effects and the preservation of balance in ecosystems. It has been proven that biocontrol bacteria can be an effective alternative to chemical methods to control pathogens. This study uses Pseudomonas chlororaphis as a valuable factor in biological control against P. aphanidermatum. A cellulase enzyme production test was conducted to better understand this bacterium’s biocontrol mechanism. This research aims to examine Pseudomonas chlororaphis’s capacity to produce cellulase enzymes and its biocontrol role against Pseudomonas aphanidermatum.
